Off Duty

A sleeping lion photographed from an unconventional viewpoint, with an enormous paw dominating the foreground while the resting face emerges behind it. Rather than a traditional wildlife portrait, the composition draws attention to scale, texture and the surprisingly soft details of one of nature's most powerful predators. Photographed at Port Lympne in Kent.
